About

A partner who is still there when it matters

As an Equity Partner and Commercial Lines Producer at Sihle Insurance Group, I represent business owners in the commercial insurance marketplace. My approach is strategic by design. I work to understand how a business actually operates before recommending how to protect it. The result is coverage that fits, service that matches the way you run your business, and a partner who’s still there when it matters most.

While a generalist, my practice focuses on the areas most agents avoid because they require specialized underwriting knowledge: large property (investor portfolios, condominium associations, developments, and larger buildings or schedules of buildings), construction, marine and other high-hazard casualty exposures, and complex workers’ compensation.

What I care about most is long-term relationships. I want to be the person my clients call first, whether that’s for a renewal, a claim, or the kind of conversation that never quite fits inside a policy form. Outside of work, I spend my time with family, hunting, fishing and watching sports, and I enjoy meeting new people over a good cup of coffee.

Where the exposure is large

Some accounts can be placed by anyone with a quote portal. These cannot. Each one depends on how the risk is presented, structured and marketed.

Property

Large property and building schedules

Investor portfolios, condominium associations, developments, and any larger building or schedule of buildings. Large insured values, wind and flood exposure, and owners and boards who need to know what their limits, valuation and deductibles actually do after a loss.

Casualty

Construction and high-hazard operations

Framing, roofing, site prep, crane work and marine construction. Contract language, subcontractor controls and loss history decide how these accounts are priced and who will write them.

Workers’ comp

Staffing, PEOs and USL&H

Classification, experience modification and program structure for employers whose payroll does not fit a standard class code, including Longshore and Harbor Workers’ exposure.

The Commercial Insurance Buyer’s Playbook by Samuel J. Summers, book cover

The book

Know how you are being sold to before you renew

The Commercial Insurance Buyer’s Playbook explains how the commercial market works, why it behaves the way it does, and what a business owner should ask at every renewal. It teaches the what and the why, so you can judge any broker’s advice, including mine.

Five questions to ask your agent

A one-page renewal handout: how to tell whether your agent is representing you or just processing your renewal.

How a review works

A review is a working conversation about your program. You leave with a clearer picture whether or not we work together.

  1. Intake

You send your current program, your renewal date and what worries you. I review it before we speak.

  2. Strategy

We talk through where the program is exposed, what the market is likely to do, and what to fix before marketing it.

  3. Placement

If you choose to work together, I take the account to market under one strategy and manage it through the term.

Speaking

Bring the Playbook to your audience

I am available to explain commercial insurance in plain terms to business audiences: what drives pricing, what coverage actually does, and what to do before a renewal.

Request a review

Send me your program

Tell me what you insure and when it renews. I will read it before we talk.

I use what you send to prepare for our conversation and to follow up with you. I do not sell your information.
